La Palazzetta
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the La Palazzetta winery located and in what part of Montalcino does it produce?
La Palazzetta is located southeast of Montalcino, at 365 meters of altitude, near the medieval village of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, close to the historic Abbey of Sant'Antimo. The winery's vineyards cover 20 hectares, alongside about 3,000 olive trees.
Who founded the La Palazzetta winery? Is it a family business?
Yes: the estate has been run by the same family for generations, but it was in 1988 that Flavio Fanti decided to convert it from grain farming to wine and olive growing, starting from a single hectare of vineyard. Today his children Luca and Tea join Flavio in running the winery, carrying forward the family tradition.
Does the La Palazzetta winery produce organic wines?
Yes: the winery earned organic certification in 2018 and uses only renewable energy, applying organic farming principles both in the vineyard and cellar. Since 2016 La Palazzetta has also held the Eco-friendly Winery Diploma from the Vini Buoni d'Italia guide.
What wines does La Palazzetta produce?
Production includes Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino, with temperature-controlled fermentation and aging mainly in French oak casks: wines that reflect a territory rich in aromas, showcased by the winery's attention to Montalcino's ecosystem.
