Known as one of the most ancient wineries in the Montalcino area, the Argiano estate was built at the end of the 16th century as a stately residence for the noble Pecci family of Siena, but with the subsequent construction of the cellar, it was soon transformed into a winery.

Over the years, the Argiano estate has seen a number of different noteworthy owners, although it reached important milestones with two noble women in particular: Duchess Gaetani dei Conti Lovatelli, who in the early 19th century brought Argiano wines to the most important literary salons of the time, attended by world-famous personalities such as De Rossi, Carducci, D’Annunzio, Nigra, Bonghi, Gregorovius, Pigorini and Zola (Carducci himself wrote in a letter “Mi tersi con il vin d’Argiano, il quale è buono tanto”, which means “I bathed myself with the wine of Argiano, which is so tasty” )

Countess Noemi Marone Cinziano, who began the important collaboration with the oenologist Giacomo Tachis.

In 2013 the property was purchased by a group of Brazilian entrepreneurs, the Leblon Investment fund Ltd, led by financier Andrè Santos Esteves, who since then has been managing the estate according to a philosophy based on respect for the environment and biodiversity.

The Argiano estate is located in Montalcino and extends for about 125 hectares, including vineyards, olive groves and woods. The vineyards extend for about 52 hectares and have a production capacity of 337,000 bottles, of which 109,000 are Brunello di Montalcino.

Among other wines produced by Cantina Argiano we can find Rosso di Montalcino and Supertuscan.

Situated on a plateau about 300 metres above sea level, this location has an excellent temperature range that guarantees the slow ripening of the grapes. The same respect for the natural timing of the product is also evident in the vinification and fermentation process, which takes place at a controlled temperature in steel vats. Ageing takes place for the first year in French oak barriques and tonneaux, then in cement vats for a further twelve months.

Its production includes Brunello di Montalcino (Vintage, Reserve and in the “Vigna del Suolo” versions), Grappa, Rosso di Montalcino and Solengo I.G.T.
