Godart et Fils is located in Moussy, in the Champagne region of France. The winery's vineyards, about 6.3 hectares, are spread across the crus of Moussy, Pierry, Chavot, Vinay and Bergères-lès-Vertus, a mosaic of terroirs that adds complexity to the maison's cuvées.
Who founded Maison Godart et Fils? Is it a family business?
Yes: the maison was founded in 1948 by three brothers, Paul, André and Jean Godart. Paul, the eldest, had worked for 23 years at Moët et Chandon before starting the family business, today run by his son Francois together with winemaker Laurie Marteau. It is a 'Récoltant Manipulant' maison, vinifying only grapes from its own vineyards.

Since 2018 the winery has held H.V.E. (High Environmental Value) certification, confirming a production approach mindful of sustainability. As a 'Vigneron Indépendant' maison, Godart et Fils oversees the whole process, from growing the grapes in its own vineyards through to vinification in the cellar, for an annual production of about 25,000 bottles.
