Poggio dell'Aquila

Poggio dell'Aquila is located in Montalcino, set on the hill from which it takes its name. The winery's commercial Brunello debut dates to the 1973 vintage, with an initial production of just 2,800 bottles — a fairly early start compared with many other estates in the appellation.

Annual production, around 35,000 bottles, includes 10,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, with the remainder made up of Rosso di Montalcino DOC. The Brunello is released after three years of aging in Slavonian oak casks and French tonneaux, followed by at least 10 months of bottle aging.
