Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Nervi winery located and in what area of Piedmont does it produce?

Nervi is located in Gattinara, in Alto Piemonte, with 27 hectares of vineyard on soil rich in volcanic porphyry, particularly well suited to Nebbiolo. It is the oldest winery in the entire Gattinara DOCG appellation.

Who founded the Nervi winery? What connection does it have with Giacomo Conterno?

The winery was founded in 1906 by Luigi Nervi. In 2018 Roberto Conterno, head of Giacomo Conterno in Barolo, acquired 90% of the property from its previous Norwegian owner Erling Astrup, bringing his traditionalist approach to Gattinara: long fermentations with submerged cap, aging in large Slavonian oak casks, without fining or filtration.

What wines does Nervi produce?

Production centers on Gattinara DOCG, made from Nebbiolo grown on the area's volcanic soils. Since 2018 Roberto Conterno has renovated the modern cellar and transformed the historic spaces, once a shop and offices, into a high-end restaurant called Cucine Nervi.
