La Fornace
Frequently Asked Questions
Who founded the La Fornace winery and in what part of Montalcino does it produce?
La Fornace is located on the northern side of the Montalcino hillside. The name comes from the brick-making activity that took place in this area as early as the late 1400s. The property was bought in 1964 by Fabio Giannetti's grandfather, Giuseppe, and is today led by Fabio himself, a third-generation family member, following the expansions carried out by his parents Franco and Germana.
What wines does the La Fornace winery produce?
La Fornace produces DOCG wines, particularly Brunello di Montalcino, from a terroir the winery itself describes as especially well suited to producing red wines renowned and appreciated not only in Italy but worldwide. It is a small, family-run estate, consistent with the property's modest size.
