Donna Olga was founded in the year 2000 in Montalcino  by Olga Peluso, a young Neapolitan woman ,from Tuscany by adoption, who is now recognised as one of the most important women in the wine sector. The company philosophy combines the typical traditions of the territory with technological innovations, capable of creating excellent wines thanks to the optimisation of the wine-wood ratio.

The vineyards of the Donna Olga winery extend for over eleven hectares on the south-west side of the Ilcinese territory. They are cultivated with Sangiovese grosso and enjoy a microclimate, exposure and soil composition that are ideal for producing full-bodied red wines.

After being carefully selected, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and left to macerate at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. Fermentation takes place in Allier oak barrels, while refinement is divided into two phases: first in Slavonian oak barrels and then in the bottle before release.

Among the excellent wines produced by the Donna Olga Winery are the Brunello di Montalcino and the Rosso di Montalcino.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Donna Olga winery located and in what part of Montalcino does it produce?

Donna Olga is located in Montalcino, with vineyards on the southwestern side of the territory, at an altitude of 250 to 400 meters. The estate's eleven hectares, of which about four are dedicated to Sangiovese Grosso for Brunello, benefit from a warm but breezy microclimate and soil rich in marl and stone, conditions that contribute to full-bodied, structured red wines typical of the appellation's southern slope.

Who founded the Donna Olga winery? Is it a female-led project?

Yes: Donna Olga was founded in 2000 in Montalcino by Olga Peluso, a young woman born in Naples and adopted by Tuscany, today recognized as one of the most important women in the Italian wine industry. The entire project, from vineyard to cellar, is personally overseen by Olga Peluso Centolani, who gives the wines a personal interpretation focused on elegance and harmony.

What approach do they take in the vineyard and cellar at Donna Olga?

The winery's philosophy combines Montalcino's traditions with technological innovations aimed at optimizing the relationship between wine and wood. In the cellar, after destemming and crushing, the grapes macerate at controlled temperature in steel tanks; fermentation takes place in Allier oak casks, while aging is split between an initial phase in Slavonian oak casks and a second phase in bottle, before release.

What wines does Donna Olga produce?

Production, around 20,000 bottles a year, centers on Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino. Donna Olga's Brunello shows an intense ruby color that turns garnet with age, a bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, violet, licorice and vanilla, with a slight mineral hint recalling oyster shell.
