Casisano was born in 2015 in Montalcino from a project designed in 1997 by the Tommasi family, but it has not been able to find its ideal place for a long time. The estate in which the farm is located originally belonged to a Roman family who planted the first vineyards and built a cellar suitable for the vinification of grapes, then restored and enlarged by the latter in full respect of nature.

The estate located in the “Ilcinese” territory, however, is not an isolated project because it is the result of a broader vision that led the Tommasi family, well known wine producer in Valpolicella Classica since 1902, to expand by buying vineyards in five different regions of Italy (Veneto, Lombardy, Tuscany, Basilicata and Puglia).
The Casisano estate extends east of Montalcino for 53 hectares (twenty-two vineyards) and takes advantage of a perfect climate to ensure the correct maturation and health of the vines. The cultivation is exclusively of Sangiovese Grosso, used to obtain Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and Sant’Antimo.

The vineyards are divided into ten parcels, different in terms of soil composition, climate and characteristics of the grapes planted. The harvest is done manually and involves the careful selection of grapes belonging to different parcels that are left to macerate and refine separately and then joined before the last phase of aging in bottle.
