Made up of a fully female team, this farm has achieved great successes in a short time, as the Oscar for the best Italian AIS producer Bibenda in 2003, the International Vinitaly Award in 2012 and the current export of its wines to 38 different countries of the world.

Casato Prime Donne brings together the two historic estates of the Cinelli Colombini family (the Casato in Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda) but it is actually a much larger project than the simple farm, consisting of Cantina Casato Prime Donne, Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne, Premio Casato Prime Donne and Percorso delle Prime Donne – Sala Ilda Bartoloni.

The estates extend for 400 hectares (366 in Val d’Orcia, 40 in the Chinese territory) and include cereals, olive groves and vineyards.

In the Casato Prime Donne estate there are 17 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with Sangiovese grosso, and the cellar in which Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino are processed and refined; at Fattoria del Colle, on the other hand, there are 17 hectares, cultivated with Sangiovese, Merlot, Traminer and Foglia Tonda (very ancient autochthonous variety) and two cellars (one historic of the 500 and one more innovative).

The process of harvesting and processing of the grapes is done in full respect of nature and tradition; the harvest is manual and is followed by a maturation in French oak tonneaux, from a first aging in cask and a second following bottling to give the wine more intense and rich aromas.

Since 2011 the winery has put into practice the project “Brunello original style”, a real return to the origins that provides manual skills and tanks of bare concrete for winemaking, but combined with modern techniques of fulling and thermoconditioning to improve the quality. The wind cellar is also innovative, consisting of steel tanks with a fulling system that allow to vinify in a completely natural way, without the use of pumps.

The production includes: Brunello di Montalcino (di Annata, Riserva, in the version “Progetto Prime Donne”), Rosso di Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle “Cenerentola”.
