Camponovo
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Camponovo winery located and in what part of Montalcino does it produce?
Camponovo is located north of the town of Montalcino, near Castello di Altesi, facing northwest. The vineyard, just over 5 hectares entirely dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino, has vines over 22 years old.
Who produces Camponovo wine? What connection does it have with La Gerla?
Camponovo is the wine produced by Aisna, a winery founded in 2012 by Alessandro Rossi, son of Sergio Rossi, founder in 1978 of the La Gerla winery. After his father's untimely death, Alessandro chose to start an independent production, selling his wine under the name Aisna, an Etruscan word meaning 'divine'.
How many bottles does the Camponovo winery produce?
Production is very limited, about 5,300 bottles a year, consistent with the pursuit of a Brunello di Montalcino that is, in the producer's words, worthy of the term 'divine' that inspired the winery's name, Aisna.
