Where is the Arillo project located and in which areas of Tuscany does it produce?
Arillo in Terrabianca comprises estates in three highly regarded Tuscan wine areas: Chianti Classico in Radda in Chianti, the Maremma (with the Il Tesoro estate) and the Val d'Orcia, a mosaic of different terroirs brought together under one project.
Who founded the Arillo project? Is it a family business?
Yes: the project began in 2019 with the Italian-Swiss Burkard family, Urs and Adriana, who by acquiring the Terrabianca estate in Radda in Chianti and Il Tesoro in the Maremma set out to create a contemporary model of eco-sustainable viticulture rooted in Tuscan winemaking history.
Where does the name Arillo come from?
The name comes from the Latin 'arillus', meaning grape seed: its oval shape inspired the graphic symbol chosen for the project, alongside the pre-existing winemaking activity of the Terrabianca and Il Tesoro estates.
