Terre di Talamo
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Terre di Talamo winery located and in what wine area does it produce?
Terre di Talamo is located south of Grosseto, in the Maremma, within the Morellino di Scansano DOCG appellation. The property, a hill of about 50 hectares (35 under vine), overlooks the sea directly, with views stretching from the port of Talamone to the Argentario promontory. The proximity to the sea plays a central role in the character of the wines, giving them a distinctive marked mineral quality.
Who founded the Terre di Talamo winery?
The project began in 2000 from the dream of Marco Bacci, a wine entrepreneur already known for Renieri in Montalcino, to create a vineyard overlooking the sea. After the results achieved with Renieri's Brunello, Bacci focused part of his investments on the Terre di Talamo vineyards overlooking the Maremma coast, expanding his winemaking project beyond the borders of Montalcino.
What wines does Terre di Talamo produce?
The vineyards are planted with Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Alicante, Petit Verdot, Vermentino and Viognier. Among its most original labels is 'Talamo a Mare', a wine notable for aging in depth: around 6,000 bottles a year age 35 meters below sea level, between Argentario and Talamone, a method that makes the project unique in the Maremma wine scene.
