San Filippo
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the San Filippo winery located and in what part of Montalcino does it produce?
San Filippo is located in Montalcino, on a 22-hectare estate split between woodland, olive grove and vineyard, with 10 hectares under vine: 5.5 dedicated to Brunello and 2.5 to Rosso di Montalcino.
Who founded the San Filippo winery?
Vincenzo Cesani, having fallen in love with Montalcino, left a career in real estate trading to devote himself to wine. He took over a fine estate whose management had stalled after the previous owner's death, and with new investment in vineyard and cellar gradually brought it back to the level it deserved.
What is the San Filippo winery's flagship wine?
Its flagship label is Lucére, a true single-vineyard cru made from 3.8 of the 5.5 hectares dedicated to Brunello, available as a selection and, in the best vintages, also as a Riserva. San Filippo has been a certified organic winery since 2013.
