Roberto Cipresso

Roberto Cipresso is a winemaker from Bassano del Grappa, who began his career in 1987 in Montalcino, working at Case Basse, Gianfranco Soldera's estate. In 1999 he founded Winemaking, an agronomic and winemaking consultancy group, and today also produces wines under his own name in Montalcino.

Yes: in 2006 he was named Best Italian Winemaker at the Oscar del Vino awards, and in 2007 he received the Luigi Veronelli Prize for Best Italian Food and Wine Writer. In 2009 Wine & Spirits also named Bodega Achaval-Ferrer, which he oversaw, Winery of the Year.

Yes: in 2016, after over twenty years of research, he launched with his brother Gianfranco the 'Cipresso 43' project, dedicated to showcasing native varieties such as Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Sagrantino, Verdicchio and Vermentino along the 43rd parallel north, across Tuscany, Umbria and the Marche.
