Collosorbo
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Tenuta di Collosorbo located and in what part of Montalcino does it produce?
Tenuta di Collosorbo is located on the southern side of Montalcino, at about 250 meters of altitude, with a 135-hectare property of which 35 are under vine.
Who founded Tenuta di Collosorbo? What connection does it have with Tenuta di Sesta?
The Ciacci family has owned this land since 1850, farming grain, olives and vineyards. Giuseppe Ciacci produced the first bottle of Brunello in 1966, the same year the Consorzio del Brunello was founded. In 1995 Collosorbo became an independent estate following the inheritance division of Tenuta di Sesta, another historic winery belonging to the same family. Today it is led by Giovanna Ciacci with her daughters Laura, the winemaker, and Lucia, in charge of sales.
Does Tenuta di Collosorbo produce organic wines?
Yes: the winery has been certified organic since the 2019 vintage. Brunello di Montalcino ages in wood for about three years, the Riserva for three and a half, followed by another 8-10 months of bottle aging before release.
