Inside the case you will find:
2x Tenimenti Ricci Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2019 – Intense ruby red with light garnet reflections. The nose is both intense and delicate, with spicy and fruity notes. The palate is dry and medium-full, with well-balanced tannins and a spicy, persistent finish. It comes from south-facing vineyards in Sant’Angelo in Colle, at 300 metres above sea level on galestro soils. Ideal with roasts, grilled meats, game and aged cheeses.
2x Baietto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2020 – Made exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grown on the hills of Montalcino, it ages in oak casks. It is an intense ruby red with garnet reflections in the glass. The nose is complex, with ripe cherry, plum, sweet tobacco, balsamic notes and a light touch of vanilla. The palate combines power and finesse: silky tannins and elegant freshness. The finish is long, with hints of red fruit and delicate spice.
2x San Giorgio Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2018 – Bright, intense garnet red with slight orange reflections. The nose is broad and enveloping, with cherry, plum, mint, sweet tobacco and chocolate. The palate is imposing and balanced, with refined tannins and a long, pleasantly fruity finish. It matures for 12 months in French oak carati, then another 24 months in large Slavonian casks. Ideal with pepper steak, braised dishes and aged cheeses.
2x Cantine Leonardo Brunello di Montalcino Cantina 2015 – It comes from the 2015 harvest, one of the most celebrated vintages in Montalcino’s recent history. It shows a bold purple-red colour with thick legs. The nose is intense and persistent, dominated by blackberries, currants and cherries. The palate is flavourful, with rich but soft tannins and good acidity. It ages for at least two years in Slavonian oak casks.
2x Verbena Brunello di Montalcino Selezione Le Pope 2020 – Made from the estate’s oldest, low-yielding vines, for a long-lived and elegant Brunello. It ages for about a year in Slavonian casks and then another 14 months in French oak barrels. Ruby red, with concentrated, ethereal aromas of morello cherry, wild berries and vanilla, and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is assertive, soft and persistent. Perfect with red meats, roasts and fine game.
2x Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino Selezione Vigna Spuntali 2019 – A cru from sandy soils on the south-western slope of Montalcino, produced in just 6,000 bottles and rated 96/100. The nose shows ripe wild berries, delicate spice and elegant minerality. The palate is full and balanced, with soft tannins. It ages for 24 months in new 300-litre French oak barrels. Ideal with bistecca alla fiorentina, roasts, game and mushroom dishes.
The Wineries:
Tenimenti Ricci: located in Sant’Angelo in Colle, on the southern slope of Montalcino, it is one of the oldest and most traditional farms in the Brunello area. Today it is run by siblings Ida and Ferruccio Ricci, who combine modern management with respect for Montalcino tradition.
Baietto: a label born on the hills of Montalcino that interprets Sangiovese Grosso according to the traditions of the area. The wine is carefully made and aged in oak casks, with the aim of combining aromatic complexity and elegance.
San Giorgio: the Tenuta San Giorgio estate is located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the municipality of Montalcino, a few kilometres from the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, one of the most striking Romanesque monuments in Tuscany.
Cantine Leonardo da Vinci: located in Vinci, Leonardo’s birthplace, with roots in the Montalcino area as well. The winery draws inspiration from the winemaking studies of the Florentine genius, who in 1515 wrote a letter to his estate manager with precise advice for producing a flawless wine. That document gave rise to the Leonardo Method, based on observation, innovation and respect for the land.
Verbena: a family estate founded in 1985 with just 2 hectares of vines. Since 1999 it has been run by Luca Nannetti, who has grown production to about 30,000 bottles a year from 10 hectares. The vineyards lie in two areas: a cooler one facing north-east, and a warmer one in Castelnuovo dell’Abate facing south-east.
Val di Suga: the winery’s history began in 1969, north of Montalcino. Its first released vintage was the Brunello Riserva 1977, and since 1994 the estate has been part of the Angelini Group. Its strength lies in three vineyards on the three slopes of the Montalcino hill, in the areas best suited to Brunello.
