Cortonesi was born in La Mannella, in Montalcino, out of a love for its territory, tradition and the desire to constantly improve. The name “Cortonesi” is not only the identity of a family, but carries a broader meaning, synonymous with a profound differentiation and an increasingly sought-after quality.
The vineyard covers eight hectares, cultivated with Sangiovese Grosso and divided into two plots, which differ in soil composition, exposure and microclimate. La Mannella is located north and has soils rich in clay and sandstone; Poggiarelli is located to the south-east and has soils rich in galeaster. The grapes are harvested and processed separately in order to create wines with completely different and authentic fragrances and aromas.
La Mannella’s wines are matured in Slavonian oak casks, while ‘Poggiarelli’ wines rest in French oak tonneaux for a period that varies according to the individual product, rarely less than three years.
Amongst the excellent wines of the Cortonesi Winery we find the “Brunello di Montalcino Mannella” (vintage or Reserve version) and “Brunello di Montalcino Poggiarelli” (vintage or Reserve version). (vintage or Riserva) and Rosso di Montalcino.
