Castello Banfi is one of the most famous wineries of the “ilcinese” territory in the World.

Born in 1978 from the idea of John and Harry Mariani, two Italian-American brothers passionate about enology, Castello Banfi represents the success of a new way of producing wine of the highest quality that perfectly integrates tradition and innovation.

To help the Mariani family soon arrives Ezio Rivella, a leading personality in the wine industry, which immediately sees great potential in this cutting-edge project.

Thanks to the characteristics of the territory from the point of view of soil composition and microclimate, Castello Banfi soon became a model to imitate, able to tell the best Brunello di Montalcino in a modern key not only in Italy and the United States, but in the whole world.

Over time Castello Banfi has expanded, bringing its techniques to other regions such as Emilia, Piedmont and South America, in which it combines the characteristics of each individual terroir to the specific techniques acquired during their experience in Tuscany.

Tenuta Banfi consists of 2830 hectares, divided into orchards, olive groves, woods, uncultivated land and vineyards. The vineyards cover about 900 hectares and are cultivated with Sangiovese grosso, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Vermentino.

The cellar, innovative and cutting-edge, allows to maintain almost unchanged the authentic flavors of the grapes, thanks to the careful selection, the aging in barrique and the use of advanced technologies.

The productions include: Plum Brandy, Badalei, Belnero, Brunello di Montalcino (Annata or Riserva, in the versions “Poggio alle Mura”, “Poggio all’oro”, “Vigna Marrucheto”), Brut, Centine (in the version Bianco, Rosè and Rosso), Chianti (of Annata or Riserva, in the “Classico” or “Superiore” version), Col di Sasso, Colle Pino, Cum Laude, Excelsus, Fontanelle, Fumaio, Grappa del Castello, La Pettegola, Le Rime, Moscadello di Montalcino Florus, Olio Extravergine di Oliva, Rosso di Montalcino, Salsa Etrusca, San Angelo, Summus, Vigne Regali (in the version “Asti” and “Rosa Regale”).
