Founded in 1970 in Montalcino, Caparzo is one of the historic wineries that contributed to the birth of the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino in 1966 and to the recognition of its quality all over the world, thanks to the denomination of controlled origins (DOC).. In 1988 the winery was purchased by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini and has undergone important changes both in terms of production and structure.

To encourage the search for ever better wine excellence and to favour the correct balance between innovation and tradition, Caparzo has been equipped with a technological aging cellar completely underground, the vineyards have been replanted experimenting with new clonal systems, able to enhance the different characteristics of wines produced in territories of different composition.

The farm Caparzo covers about 200 hectares (90 vineyards, 4 destined to the production of oil, 87 to wood and 19 sown) and have different altitudes, compositions and climates: Caparzo, the Cassero and La Casa to the south/south-east; the Fall to the west; and San Piero-Caselle to the south-east.

The grapes are harvested manually and carefully selected, destemmed and must and pomace begin the process of fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperature. The aging takes place first in Slavonian oak barrels and in Allier oak nights, then in tonneaux and barrique.

The production includes: Brunello di Montalcino (of Annata, Riserva or in the version “La Casa”, Rosso di Montalcino (of vintage or in the version “La Caduta”), Moscadello and Grappa di Brunello (of Annata or in Riserva).
